Intermediate Blogging For The Arts
Posted on 09. Mar, 2009 by Ken McGuire in Presentations
On Thursday March 26th I’ll be giving another half-day course for ArtLinks, this time dubbed “Intermediate Blogging for The Arts”. Back in May last year I ran the first stage of the course which was a “Blogging For Beginners” day with a focus on the arts. Places for the intermediate course are limited to fifteen. Here’s the blurb via ArtLinks.ie.
Following on from the successful ArtLinks Blogging for Beginners course, Ken McGuire (Blogger & Irish Podcaster of the Year 2008) will discuss further features and strategies for maintaining and publicising your creative work, projects or group activities.
Blogging, creating an online diary, is becoming increasingly popular with creative practitioners. Simple to use and often free, blog templates create online sites that allow people to describe their creative endeavors to others, in particular, works or projects in process, or to share niche topics on any creative field or endeavour. Blogs often reveal the personalities behind the work and their growing popularity lies in their informality and the ability of audiences to subscribe to new material, “posts”, created by the blog author. A recent UK commissioned study found blogs are increasingly used by people to connect not so much with publishers, buyers or curators, but with new peers and build new audiences for their work.
Note: Participants are asked to review the Blogging for Beginners course slideshow on the ArtLinks Archive before attending this course.
Date and Venue: Co. Kilkenny: Thurs 26 Mar, Abbey Business Centre, Abbey St., Kilkenny, 10am – 1pm
